青岛路演首站，《我和我的祖国》之《前夜》在北部战区海军某驱逐舰支队的部队礼堂进行了放映，同时也是本故事在全国范围的首次放映。数千名部队官兵及家属观看影片，共同回顾了1949年10月1日开国大典前夜，天安门广场旗杆设计安装者林治远（黄渤饰）等人争分夺秒克服重重困难，保障开国大典上新中国五星红旗第一次顺利升起的故事。观影结束后，导演管虎携主演魏晨惊喜现身，与官兵们进行交流。管虎导演希望通过本片能让观众看到“伟人背后的小人物为了祖国大事曾付出过什么”，魏晨分享自己第一次试戏服时穿上军装“感觉好像穿越了一样，妈妈也为自己能出演军人角色而自豪”。
