The British media reported on November 29 that the new RX L seven-seat model of Lexus’ flagship SUV series was officially unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
The third model in the Lexus SUV range, the new seven-seat RX L will be a strong competitor to the Audi Q7 and Volvo XC90. The RX L will go on sale in the UK in spring 2018, with pricing and specifications to be announced until the launch date.
In order to increase the number of third-row seats, this model is 110mm larger than the standard RX, and the tailgate is angled more vertically to ensure that there is enough headroom for third-row passengers.
Lexus says the third row of seats has a 60/40 ratio and is as comfortable as the second row. The third row of seats can also be folded into the luggage compartment baseplate to provide maximum loading space. The larger body of the RX L means that the trunk space will be increased accordingly, but the official did not disclose the specific data. For reference, the trunk space of the standard model is 453 liters. Unlike the seat design discovered by Land Rover, the Lexus second row of seats is taller than the third row, providing more legroom for rear passengers.
The seven-seater Lexus RXL is likely to have the same powertrain as the regular model, details of which have not been officially released. Lexus last week released the official picture of the RX 350L, which is equipped with a gasoline-electric hybrid system, which is provided by a 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engine and a small electric motor. In addition, the new car may also be equipped with a 235-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine of the RX 200t.
